You are Undoubtfully Beautiful
You are Undoubtfully Beautiful
You sitting right here are undoubtfully beautiful. Yes you, browsing the internet, maybe eating a bowl of ice cream, are undoubtfully beautiful. And I am going to tell you why.
Firstly, let us assess your feelings toward yourself. Do you feel beautiful? Not, “I have on makeup today, and my outfit is on point. So yes I am beautiful,” I am talking about the beauty of your worth and value. Do you truly believe you have worth?
Take a look at the media for example. Advertised all around us we see “Get flat abs in 4 weeks!” or “Tone your butt with these simple moves!” We have so many people telling us we need flat abs and frizz-free hair and larger breasts that we do not even appreciate how we already look; how we were born to look. It’s frustrating: we want to have perfect hair, perfect skin, the perfect body…but what is perfect? Here’s a hint: it doesn’t exist. Why can’t we be okay with what we already look like?
Another lie the media tells us is that once we achieved our “flat abs” is that we’ll be happy. To some extent that is true, because we set a goal and we reached it. But how long will it be until our flat abs quit feeding us happiness? We become so focused on becoming this perfect model that we can never be. We look at celebrities and wish more than anything that we could have their life, or at least their hair.
I remember growing up, and especially in my pre-teen years, I wanted more than anything to be skinny. I wanted a flat stomach and a not-so-chubby face, so I put myself on these “diets” that never lasted and made myself workout because I saw exercising as a chore that had to be done. I would get upset because I could not do my makeup right, and my frizzy, curly hair was too untamable. I considered myself to be one of the unlucky people that were not meant to be pretty. I don’t think like that now, but I wish I realized then that there was more to life than being considered popular and pretty.
We have value and worth just as we are. There is not single cell in our body that needs to be changed! The only goal we should have in our minds is to be healthy; to live a balanced life. Living a balanced, healthy life is a one-way ticket to respect for our bodies. We do not have to eat healthy; that choice is entirely up to you. If you are eating healthy to be skinny, let me tell you that you won’t be getting far. Kick the word “skinny” out of your mind, because the only reason that should be behind eating right is to be healthy.
So what makes you beautiful? What are your special qualities? Do you paint? Bake? Draw the best anime and manga? What makes you uniquely different from your neighbors? It can be hard at first to notice the things you’re best at, but trust me, they are there. You have to find them! Try new things and move out of your comfort zone! There is only one you, and guess what? You’re pretty fantastic!
So move, dance, sing…do all the things that make you feel beautiful! Exercise because you have legs that move, eat healthy because you want to feel great and be healthy, not because you want to be skinny. You are beautiful, inside and out. You were created to be beautiful, and there is not one single thing about you that needs changing.

Lindsay
